Dr. Robert Edward “Ted” Kennon earned his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech University and his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine (1999), both in Atlanta. He then completed a general surgery internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital and a residency in orthopaedic surgery in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation of the Yale University School of Medicine and Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut (2004). Dr. Kennon continued his training with a prestigious fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction with the Keggi Orthopaedic Foundation in 2005.

The whole world should know how wonderful Dr Robert Kennon and his staff are! I had a total right hip replacement surgery done 4 months ago by Dr. Kennon. Choosing him was one of the best decisions I ever made. I do not know why I waited so long. At the beginning of the process, he took the time to explain in detail what exactly to expect. The surgery itself went without a hitch and Dr. Kennon and his team were there for me. I can tell you I really never had pain...pain level maybe a 2 out of 10. I could not imagine that I would be able to walk 4 hours later, but I did. Recovery was good pretty easy. I just followed the exercise protocol. Thank you so much Dr Kennon my lifestyle is so much better now !!! I am able to get on the ground and play with my grandchildren. God Bless You.

Dr. Kennon has been most helpful for me in making decisions re total knee replacement. I have been extremely pleased with his knowledge of current procedures. He follows the most up to date technology. His staff has been most helpful with any & all questions. The office is very organized. The preop planning was very thorough. I have had bth knees replaced 4 months apart. Very pleased at 8 & 4 months postop.

I've been going to Dr. Kennon for 3 years now. I was having hip and knee pain. I needed total hip replacement because of pain, arthritis and wearing of the hip joint. Because I didn't want surgery at that point, Dr. Kennon didn't push me. Instead he offered cortisone shots which go directly in the hip joint which eased my pain. After a year of injections, I decided I would have surgery. The surgery went well and I even walked hours later. I feel great!! Dr Kennon is fantastic, caring, and knowledgable, ACTUALLY in describing him I could go on and on how great he is! He takes his time to address all your concerns. Eventually I will need knee surgery and will be back to see him. His staff is absolutely wonderful!! The PA's are as well. When you leave a message, they are very quick to respond. Anyone with knee or hip pain should go to him. You will be glad you did. My Husband also had a hip replacement 13 years ago and is still doing wonderful!

After a great deal of research, I selected Dr. Kennon because of his experience, his good and gentle nature, his willingness to listen and respond to my many questions, and the fact that he didn't push me to have the surgery done. (He also has an engineering degree, which makes sense when you think about.) I had both hips totally replaced this year - and just 12 weeks apart. I was in overall good physical shape before surgery: I could walk several miles a day and work out on an elliptical machine for an hour at a time. The problem was - every step was uncomfortable. My stride was shortened because I had no flexibility. I felt unsteady, and I started limiting outdoor activities. I endured this for nearly 10 years. Because I had been a runner for 35 years, I went to Dr. Kennon hoping he could perform hip resurfacing and get me running again - but by the time I went to see him, I was 67 and had aged out of that procedure (bone density issue). The recovery for both hips was very quick (but don't let anyone fool you - the first two-three weeks can be pretty uncomfortable), and I am now essentially completely pain-free. The only lingering issue I have is some hip flexor tightness in one hip, but that is gradually dissipating and almost gone. Walking is now so effortless that I often tell my wife that I feel like I'm floating along. I walk 2-3 miles/day at a pretty quick clip, and ride a Peloton hard 3 times a week. In sum: Any surgery can result in serious complications, so I suggest you think long and hard about it and do your research before making a decision. If/when you do decide to have your hip(s) replaced, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Kennon.
