Dr. Robert Edward “Ted” Kennon earned his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech University and his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine (1999), both in Atlanta. He then completed a general surgery internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital and a residency in orthopaedic surgery in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation of the Yale University School of Medicine and Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut (2004). Dr. Kennon continued his training with a prestigious fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction with the Keggi Orthopaedic Foundation in 2005.

Now I understand why my friend had both knees done and recommended Dr. Kennon to me. I first saw Dr. Kennon back in 2018 when they took xrays, drained fluid and gave me a cortisone shot. He patiently explained my options and when I asked about timing of a TKR, he said "you will know when you it is time." Four years later, after gentle prodding from family, I came back in to schedule the TKR. Dr Keenon has a dedicated person to schedule and coordinate all aspects of the surgery. Three months post-surgery, I've had a Manipulation Under Anesthesia (to increase Range of Motion) and started use of a DynaSplint which have benefitted me greatly. I'm still working on gaining strength in both knee and quads but I'm recovering well. Highly recommended!

I couldn’t be more satisfied with my choice of surgeon, Dr. Kennon, or the hospital - St. Francis. I have recuperated amazingly well, and my hip is pain free after less than 3 months. My physical therapist was amazed at how well I did & gave me a test at the end of my therapy & said he stopped my test because I had surpassed the maximum goal in less than the allotted time.

I had a total knee replacement with professional consultation and procedures done before I made the final decision. It was done well but recovery takes time. Each of us has to be active in the recovery process.

Dr. Kennon is very patient oriented. He takes time to explain to you why you are experiencing the symptoms you have and what can be done to rectify the problem. He will work with you to determine when you are ready for surgery . His follow-up after surgery is thorough. I have referred many friends who have had great results. Dr. Kennon has been involved in research programs in the field and we benefit from his knowledge base.

I would highly recommend Dr. Kennon. He did a great job. He's easy to work with and very nice. The best recommendation by Dr. K was physical therapy prior to surgery. Prehab! I believe it made a very big difference for my recovery. Wish I had done the knee replacement surgery sooner. St. Francis Hospital was awesome as well.
